Aksel Jessen

2nd Year Apprentice, Application Development

My name is Aksel and I live in Herrliberg, about a 15 min train ride from Zurich.
I have no siblings. In my spare time I play games, nothing specifically. I also practice Kendo, a Japanese sword art. I’ve recently started to take an interest to try out programming my own projects. In my spare time I play the cello and I take part in a symphony orchestra as a 2nd bank cellist.
My family and I weren’t sure if we could do our yearly travel to Greece in July due to COVID-19 but we were lucky and so we did end up going. We ended up going to Sarti, Chalkidiki, south of Thessaloniki.
In my first year of the apprenticeship, I was doing a “basic” year at ZLI where we could build up our knowledge for a final project. For my final project, I was looking at different options. Amongst those options was “Conway’s Game of Life”. I had decided to start with that and I used JavaFX and Java 8 to create my version of “Conway’s Game of Life”. I did have to use methods that others had made to be able to implement certain features.
I look forward to the future and beyond the 1st year apprenticeship at the Prime Tower in Zurich. I also look forward to working with other teams on new projects and learning more while going along.

Andreas Laourdas

2nd Year Apprentice, Application Development

Hello, my name is Andreas and I am 18 years old. I currently live in Switzerland in Schwamendingen. I have two sisters, one is older than me and the other one is younger than me. The older one liver in Greece, while studying, and the younger lives here with my Family.
In my free time I like going to the gym and going out with my friends. I was in Rhodes, Greece this summer with a friend of mine. The COVID-19 situation made it a bit hard and complicated, but we made the best out of it and had a lot of fun. In the first year of my apprentice at Cognizant I was at ZLI (a training center) so I can learn all the basics of programming and how we work in a team for different projects.
As a final project, I decided to do a Sudoku. The user can create a new Sudoku, check if the Sudoku is correct and delete the input with a right click.
I am really excited about everything the second apprentice year has for me. I am looking forward to get to know more about the Cognizant team and also working in new projects.

Fabian Fischer

2nd Year Apprentice, Application Development

Hello, my name is Fabian and I am 16 years old. I live in Oberglatt since I am 4 years old. I am an only child and have no siblings.
In my free time I like to do sports, go out with friends and spend time with my girlfriend. I spent most of this summer holiday with my father. I spent one week in Germany and two weeks in Switzerland.
In Switzerland, I did things with my father for one week and the other week I spent with my friends and my girlfriend. I went swimming almost every day or was outside in the evening when it was cooler.
In my first year, I was at ZLI. There I learned the basics of for example PHP, Java and HTML.
As my final project, I made a website about fitness. I have there nutritional tips workouts and so on. I also added a little mini-game to my website.
I was very happy with my final project and I liked the animations that I built in.

Marvin Brunner

2nd Year Apprentice, Mediamatics

My name is Marvin and I live in Eschlikon, about a 50 min train ride from Zurich. I have 2 siblings, one Brother and one sister. The interesting thing about that is, that we are triples. In my spare time I play football and start some activities with my friends. I’ve recently started to take an interest to try out programming my own projects.
This summer holiday I stayed at home because of COVID-19. The plan was to spend three weeks in Namibia, and everything was organized but because of circumstances I stayed at home and made daily trips in Switzerland.
In my first year of the apprenticeship, I was doing a basic year at ZBW in St. Gallen, where we could build up our knowledge for a final project and for the future in our apprentice. For my final project, I made a brand-new Website for ICT Berufsbildung Ostschweiz and a new Flyer for Swissmechanic. I had decided to start with that, and I used HTML, CSS and Javascript to create my new design version. I learnt a lot of things by doing, specifically for Javascript I had to learn from scratch up.
I’m very happy to spend now the second year of my apprentice in the Prime Tower with all others. I look forward to the projects we’re going to have now and for a good cooperation in the team.

Shaarujan Ragunathan

2nd Year Apprentice, Application Development

My name is Shaaru and I live in Zurich. I have a younger brother and he is currently attending the secondary school. In my sparetime I like to go to the gym and train there daily. From time to time I also box. Otherwise I like to spend time with my family and friends.
Because of the current COVID-19 situation I couldn't travel anywhere this year. During the summer holidays I spent my time in Switzerland and made some small trips with my family.
In my 1st year of basic training I was at ZLI and there I could build up all my knowledge.
As a final project I implemented a website (TuCardo.ch) and on my website you could register, login and create and display dress ads.
For this final project I was inspired by tutti.ch. I worked with PHP, HTML and the data was stored in a database (phpMyAdmin) MySQL.
I am very much looking forward to the 2nd year of apprenticeship in Prime Tower and to working with my team and learning new knowledge and then using it.
